In 2027, the National Deaf People of Color Conference will celebrate its 20th anniversary, marking two decades since its historic first gathering in Indianapolis, Indiana, from March 29 to April 1, 2007. Since its founding, the conference has created an important national space for Deaf, DeafBlind, hard of hearing, and signing people of color to celebrate their diverse cultures and identities, share experiences, develop leadership, build community, and address issues affecting their lives. The 2027 theme, “Recharge the Flame, Carry the Torch Forward,” honors NDPC’s rich history while creating space for present and emerging leaders to strengthen their connections, renew their commitment, and carry the vision forward. Together, we celebrate our past, empower our present, and inspire our future.
In celebration of 20 years of NDPC, the National Deaf People of Color respectfully invites your organization to sponsor the 2027 National Deaf People of Color Conference. This national gathering will bring together Deaf, DeafBlind, hard of hearing, and signing Black, Indigenous, and People of Color for two days of learning, connection, celebration, and renewed leadership.
Our theme, “Recharge the Flame, Carry the Torch Forward,” honors NDPC’s history while creating space for present and emerging leaders, educators, artists, advocates, professionals, families, and community members. The conference will offer both in-person and virtual participation so that people across the country can take part.
In-person attendance will be limited to 250 participants to support an accessible and engaging experience. The virtual conference will accommodate up to 500 participants nationwide.
The conference was originally anticipated for 2026 and has been rescheduled for July 2 and 3, 2027.
